David Johnson established Pryor-Johnson Rare Books in 2014 after decades of book-collecting and book-selling.
Particular strengths include signed modern firsts, photography, books about books, fine press and Beat literature.
In 2017, we moved from the Upper East Side to the NoMad (as we are to call it now):
1123 Broadway (at 25th St.), Suite 517
We continue to upload our holdings to this Web site.
You can also view our books at AbeBooks.
You're very welcome to contact us with enquiries, to make an appointment or to join our mailing list.
We do buy books, selectively, according to the following criteria:
1. Importance — is this a well-known, well-regarded, influential book?
2. Primacy — is this a first edition/state/issue/impression? Is it the first book by a prominent author? Is it the first book of its kind?
3. Condition — has this book been cared for well? If it is a modern book (post, roughly, 1900), does it have its dust-wrapper in fine condition? If it is an older book, is the binding whole, original and lacking cracks, chips and so forth? Is the paper free of toning, foxing and other marks? (N.B. A previous owner's mark doesn't necessarily have a negative impact!)
If you have a book that may be of interest, do please write to us with as many photographs as you can.
