David Johnson established Pryor-Johnson Rare Books, ABAA in 2013 after decades of book-collecting and book-selling.

Strengths include signed modern firsts, photography, books about books, fine press and Beat literature.
In addition to modern books, about half the shop is antiquarian (1500-1900) books:
literature, history, philosophy, natural history and exploration are particular concentrations.

In 2017, we moved from the Upper East Side to the NoMad.

During the pandemic, we moved from Broadway and are now appointment-only.

We sell our books on AbeBooks.

We’re proud members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America.

You're very welcome to contact us with enquiries, to make an appointment or to join our mailing list.

In pandemic times we are open by appointment only.

David Johnson

David started Pryor-Johnson in 2013 after many years of collecting on two coasts and two continents. His particular interest is British books on gardening published before 1800. David lives in New York with Barbara Pryor Esq., who's graciously lent her name to the book-shop. David became a member of the ABAA in 2019.
